Lord, Lift My Spirit Today

The sun is out this morning in the UK. Properly out. Blue sky, actual warmth, the kind of day that makes you forget it's been gray and drizzly for months. And it's lifted my mood significantly.

But it's also made me realize something. I've been feeling low. Not dramatically, not in a way I was actively acknowledging, but it's been there. The weight of winter weather, the constant gray, the news that never seems good, the general heaviness that accumulates without you noticing until suddenly there's a sunny day and you realize how much lighter you feel.

And I'm grateful for the sunshine. But I also know that my spirit shouldn't be this dependent on weather. Because tomorrow it might rain again. The news will still be heavy. The circumstances making my spirit sink won't have changed.

What I actually need isn't just better weather or better news. I need God to lift my spirit regardless of what's happening externally.

David wrote that while running from people trying to kill him. His circumstances were terrible. But God lifted his head anyway, not by changing what was happening, but by lifting his spirit in the middle of it.

That's what I need. Not circumstances to improve so my spirit feels lighter, but God to lift my spirit even when circumstances stay heavy. Internal renewal even when external reality stays difficult.

This isn't about motivating yourself or finding distractions. It's about spiritual lifting, something only God can do. Breathing life into what feels lifeless. Bringing lightness to what's heavy. Refreshing from the inside out.

Today, if your spirit is heavy before the day even begins, ask God to lift it. Not by fixing everything around you, but by renewing what's inside you. He's the lifter of your head. And coming to Him weary is exactly what He invites.
