Scripture
Numbers 23:19·WEB Translation
God is not a man, that he should lie, nor a son of man, that he should repent. Has he said, and he won’t do it? Or has he spoken, and he won’t make it good?

The Ground That Holds
Promises are only as reliable as the person making them. We've all been let down by broken promises – people who meant well but couldn't follow through, circumstances that changed, good intentions that dissolved under pressure. And because of that, we've learned to be skeptical. We don't fully believe until we see it happen.
But God's promises are different. They're not contingent on circumstances lining up or conditions being met. They're anchored in His unchanging character. When God makes a promise, it's not wishful thinking or a best-case scenario, it's a guaranteed reality that's already been set in motion. He doesn't make promises He can't keep. He doesn't speak words that might fail.
Scripture is full of them:
These aren't inspirational ideas, they're rock-solid truth you can build your entire life on.
The question is: Are you standing on them? When the ground beneath you feels shaky, when circumstances contradict what God has said, when waiting stretches longer than you expected, are you still standing? Because His promises don't shift with your feelings or circumstances. They remain, steady and sure, waiting for you to put your full weight on them and trust that they will hold.
Today, stand on what God has promised. Not on what you hope might happen, but on what He has already declared. His Word will not fail you.

Prayer
Lord, I'm standing on Your promises, choosing to build my life on what You've declared rather than on what I feel, see, or understand.
Standing on Your promises is an active choice, a daily decision to trust what You've said over what circumstances suggest, to believe Your Word when everything else contradicts it.
Teach me which promises are mine to stand on, to know Your Word well enough to claim the right promises for the right situations, to build on truth not wishful thinking.
Your promises aren't just nice ideas or hopeful thoughts but guaranteed truths backed by Your character, and standing on them means staking everything on their reliability.
Help me stand firm when pressure comes to step off Your promises and onto something that feels more practical, more reasonable, more immediately visible.
Remind me that Your promises have never failed anyone who stood on them, that they've held up under every test, every storm, every season of history.
Give me the strength to keep standing even when my legs are tired, when standing feels harder than sitting in doubt, when others think I'm foolish for believing.
Let me stand confidently today on the promises of God, feet planted firmly on truth that cannot shift, building my life on words that will never fail.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
